Birth & Baby Naming

Before or after your baby is born Rabbi Matt will meet with you to discuss Hebrew names, the Brit Milah, as well as a naming ceremony. Once your baby is born we will have a special ceremony to help you and your family give thanks for the gift of new life and the joy and privilege of parenthood as well as welcome your new born child into the Jewish community.

Bar/Bat Mitzvah

When a child reaches the age of 13, he/she may become a Bar/Bat Mitzvah, at which time the child will enjoy the privilege of leading the congregation in worship, reading and chanting prayers and a passage from the Torah and the Biblical prophet. This privilege is earned through a commitment to study and deeds of loving kindness. A defining moment in the life of a Jew is when he/she becomes a Bar/Bat Mitzvah. Our Rabbi and Cantorial Soloist as well as our educational staff play a major role in this important “Simcha” (a joyous milestone) in the lives of our congregation’s children and their families.

Adult B’nai Mitzvah

Our congregation offers a course for adults who wish to become a Bar/Bat Mitzvah. Participants in this 2 year course become B’nai Mitzvah together at a Friday evening Shabbat Service.

Weddings

One of the most important and precious moments in a couple’s life is a celebration of their love with a marriage wedding ceremony. Our Rabbi and Cantorial Soloist play an active role in preparing each couple for their new Jewish life together.

Funerals/Memorials/Unveilings

Our Rabbi and Rabbi Emeritus are available to our members in times of need. They visit and give support. In the case where death is expected or has occurred, they provide guidance and support.

Memorial Plaques

Memorial plaques are a way of honoring a deceased family member or friend. A light is lit each year on the occasion of a person’s yahrzeit as well as during Yizkor Service on Yom Kippur, Sh’mini Atzeret, Pesach, and Shavuot.
